Graphene on innovative applications of lithium batteries can effectively increase battery life

Tuesday,Jul 21,2015

 Batteries

Today's lithium batteries were largely developed by this large company Sony 20 years ago. With those materials, the expansion of their capacity is at best two times. High-capacity battery materials are created predominantly in the United States. Silicon may raise the limit more than 10 times that of the graphite at present utilized as anode material yet so far that accompanies insufficient cycle life. In the study, distributed in Nature Communications, the new battery innovation utilizes utilization of graphene on the silicon surface and that presents volume development prompting amplified battery life.

According to Business Korea reports, "The research arm of Samsung Electronics has developed a technology to make a silicon anode material for coating high crystal graphene on a silicon surface to realize an energy density almost two times more than that of existing lithium batteries and they have been making efforts to improve battery capacity to differentiate itself from other global smartphone rivals, expects that it could bring a significant change to both mobile devices and the electronic car industry.

Other Usage

Graphene as Electronic Skin

A new technique to produce high-quality, low cost graphene could pave the way for the development of the first truly flexible 'electronic skin', that could be used in robots. The researchers from University of Exeter found an innovative and new way to produce the graphene much cheaper and easuer than before.

According to Printed Electronics world the research team, led by Professor Monica Craciun, have used this new method to create the first transparent and flexible touch-sensor that could enable the development of artificial skin for use in robot manufacturing. Professor Craciun, from Exeter's Engineering department, believes the new discovery could pave the way for "a graphene-driven industrial revolution" to take place.

Sooner or later this graphene would change the technology in the near future. This could evolve every electronic  devices.
