Vishay new current-sense resistors save space and improve accuracy and efficiency

Monday,Nov 21,2016

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced the release of a new surface-mount Power Metal Strip current-sense resistor, WSLF2512. The resistor has a high power of 6W, TCR as low as ± 70ppm / ℃, 0.0003Ω of the very low resistance value, with 2512 dimensions.

Vishay Dale WSLF2512 power density of 192W / square inch, allowing designers to use high-power circuits as small as possible to the resistance, to save space. The low TCR of the device enables stable and accurate current measurements over a wide temperature range, while low resistance minimizes power loss and improves the efficiency of the final product.

The WSLF2512 utilizes an advanced structure consisting of a solid metal nickel, chrome, or manganese-copper-tin alloy resistive core with a low TCR (<20ppm / ° C), enabling higher power in a smaller size and keeping Power Excellent Electrical Characteristics of Metal Strip Structures. Vishay's unique processing technology allows the device resistance range of 0.0003Ω ~ 0.003Ω, tolerance of ± 1.0% and ± 5.0%. The device has a low thermal EMF (<3μV / ° C), very low inductance (<2nH) and a temperature range from -65 ° C to + 170 ° C.

Today's resistors are ideal for all types of galvanic, partial and pulsed applications in power management. They are used in automotive electronic control equipment such as engines, drives, antilock, acoustics and climate control, drilling test and measurement equipment and HVAC systems Of the inverter control, the server's VRM. The device is RoHS and Vishay green, halogen-free.
