How TI Retain Staff

Friday,May 31,2013

In addition to the hiring difficulties described in Employment Paradox: Unemployment, Skills Gaps, Difficulty in Hiring, how to retain great workers also becomes a significant concern facing most companies. Seeking for higher paying, higher position, and better working environment is people’s nature, but this leads to frequent personal changes and series of troubles for companies such as recruiting suitable employees, re-organize recruitment. Here TI shows a good initiative in retaining workers-funding its workers’ excellent children.

Since 1996, TI has cooperated with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to provide funds to excellent students who are sons or daughters of active, retired or deceased TI employees. This year, nineteen students are included on the list on the basis of their scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, academic record, leadership abilities, writing skills and extracurricular activities.

"The Junkins Scholars represent some of the best of the TI family. As we honor these students, we also recognize their parents who have contributed to our company's success and passed along to their children the work ethic and commitment to excellence that it takes to reach your goals," said Trisha Cunningham, TI chief citizenship officer, who presented the awards along with TI Senior Vice President Art George.

"Congratulations to each of the nineteen students," George said. "I am very excited to have the opportunity to speak to these bright young scholars. Their achievements in the realms of scholarship, leadership, community service and character are indicative of their high potential and leading indicators of their future success."

As a large company in the field of semiconductor, TI has offered various treatments better than other small companies; adding the unique supplement, TI presents more advantages in attracting and retaining staffs. At least, this kind of activities is appealing to me. What about you?
